Being a passionate gardener, parent and pet owner all at the same time is tough. It is a challenge to find the perfect balance between a healthy garden that you, your children and pets can all enjoy. It is challenging but not totally impossible.

In order to get the healthy garden that you’ve always wanted, you need to think smart about the grass, the plants, and the layout of the garden.

Consider the age of your children as it affects the location of where they can play freely and safely. Another thing that needs to be considered, if your pet is a dog, is the breed and size.

But let’s face it, the time will surely come when your child or your pet will trample some of your plants or break a flower pot. This is why it is important as a parent and a pet owner to be patient and give up offer some flexibility when it comes to your garden.

The best way to meet your objectives is to compromise with the wants and needs of your child and pet.

A great thing to do is to create zones for them. Kids like to have their own play areas. And depending on their age, they like to ride bikes or scooters in the garden, so make sure to create paths for them. Dogs, like kids, need their own play areas– and they need a lot. They need spaces where they can run freely and lie under the shade after a game of fetch.

The more you know about your children and pets’ particular wants and needs, the better your chances of maintaining a healthy garden.

Of course, your children and pets’ garden needs are important, but so are yours. What your garden needs are plants and lawns that are safe and can survive playtime. For plants, do not opt for plants that have thorns and spines. Opt for plants that have soft but sturdy leaves. For grass, Sir Walter DNA Certified turf is your best option. Not only is it soft and smooth, but also robust and easy to maintain, perfect for you, your children and your pets!

Plan and plant smart and you’ll have a healthy garden working in perfect harmony with your children and pets in no time!
